TAMPA (FOX 13) -
A driver was critically injured Wednesday morning after slamming into the back of a tractor trailer on the Causeway Boulevard.
Investigators say the cause of the crash may have to do with some sort of mechanical difficulty the tractor trailer had while heading over the Licata Bridge on 22nd Street.
He was driving slowly with his flashers on, and the driver of a Mazda did not notice, slamming into the back of the rig.
Firefighters had to cut the driver out of the car, and he was taken to Tampa General Hospital.
The stretch was closed for several hours Wednesday morning.
