A 3-year-old Manatee County girl is recovering after being bitten this week by a pygmy rattlesnake.
Sarah Lawson was bitten on her finger Monday morning outside Sunny Daze pre-school in Lakewood Ranch.
Fortunately, she was rushed to Children's Hospital were doctors were able to give her anti-venin to slow the swelling.
She's almost back to normal now, but her mom says it's a huge scare she could've done without.
"I consider myself very lucky. Thoughts were going through my head on the way to the hospital, I didn't know what the outcome was gonna be," said Shannon Rainwater.
In response, Sunny Daze has closed its playground and is working with a trapper to make sure something like this doesn't happen again.
Sarah's mom says she's thankful to everyone involved for their quick response in getting Sarah immediate medical treatment.
