Downtown Lakeland parking fee doubles

It's going to cost you a bit more to park in downtown Lakeland.

The fee at parking meters just doubled from 50 cents to $1 an hour. Lakeland is trying to make it easier to pay, though.

The city hopes to install meters that take credit and debit cards by the end of the year.

City commissioners voted on the hike for the 2012 yearly budget.
