A police chase has sparked a massive manhunt across two counties in the Bay area.
It started Sunday night north of Ybor City at the intersection of 22nd Street North and 26th Avenue East, and the driver and occupants are still on the loose – last seen near Lakeland.
Police say they stopped a silver Mercedes Benz carrying two black men, but the driver refused to yield, speeding onto the interstate and heading toward Polk County.
At one point, police say they caught up with them and tried to box them in, but the driver rammed a cruiser and sped away.
Police said they then went into the Lakeland area, where they allegedly forcefully stole a Toyota Tacoma from out front of a residence.
The sheriff's office says the men forced pulled one woman from the vehicle and punched another man before leaving the area in the truck.
The man was treated for minor injuries.
