A 31-year-old New Port Richey man was arrested Friday for his role in a December fatal crash.
Garrett Franklin Bruce is facing one count of DUI Manslaughter and one count of vehicular homicide.
He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail and released after posting a bond of $100,000.
The one-vehicle crash that claimed the life of Patrick Christopher Vosbein occurred in the early morning hours of December 11, 2001 on Meres. Blvd. in Tarpon Springs.
According to a Tarpon Springs Police Department report Bruce was driving his 2011 Dodge Charger in excess of 100 miles per hour in the westbound lane when he lost control.
The incident occurred just after 3 a.m. The car veered off the roadway near Woodmont Dr. and struck a light pole and a water meter.
Vosbein, 26, was sitting in the rear seat and was ejected upon impact. He suffered massive head injuries and was transported to Medical Center Bayonet Point in Hudson where he later died.
He was not wearing a seatbelt.
Elliot Lewis was a passenger in the vehicle and also suffered serious injuries. The 25-year-old New Port Richey resident was treated and released from Bayonet Point.
A subsequent investigation into the crash revealed Bruce had a blood alcohol level of .103 at the time of the incident. Lewis and Bruce were wearing seatbelts according to the report.
