A local restaurant is getting a taste of the national
spotlight. The Travel Channel was filming at Datz Deli in South
Tampa.
The deli will be featured on the show "Paradise"
during an episode about meatloaf. One of Datz's specialties is the appetizer "mac
and cheese bites," which combine macaroni and cheese and (yes, you guessed it)
meatloaf.
"They're fried mac and cheese balls," Co-owner Roger Perry
said. "We take two of those, put them inside a bread pan on meatloaf, so it's
an individual meatloaf with mac and cheese inside. It's like meatloaf to the
next level."
The owners opened the restaurant location on MacDill three
years ago after moving here from Ocala.
