Coach charged with inappropriately touching child

BRADENTON (FOX 13) -

Aaron Brooks, a 23 year old part-time soccer coach, is accused of molesting a 6-year-old boy.

Detectives say he told them demons made him do it.

"We are concerned. I mean, he had access to over 600 kids at the camp and that does concern us," said Bradenton Police Captain Warren Merriman.

Police say the boy was molested in a Bradenton neighborhood along 16th Street West. At first, they say Brooks denied it when police confronted him.

But then, they say, he called the boy's mother, met with her, and admitted touching her son.

Investigators say he tried to convince her not to press charges.

Until his arrest, Brooks worked for I-9 Sports in Lakewood Ranch. The company released a statement saying in part:

"We are deeply saddened by this news....and want to express our sympathy for the child and the family."

The company says Brooks was a part-time coach and that he did pass  a background check.

But because he worked with so many kids, police are worried there may be other victims.

Brooks is charged with felony lewd and lascivious molestation. Detectives believe there may be other victims so Bradenton police are urging parents to talk with their children if they had any contact with Brooks, and to call if you have any information.
