What happened to a 71-year-old convenience store clerk over the weekend has nearby businesses on edge. On Sunday night, intruders entered the store in Seffner, threw the man to the ground, and began kicking and hitting him.
After the clerk gave up the cash drawer, the attack got worse.
"We didn't have security cameras before, but we are getting them now," Bradford Ahrens told FOX 13. Arhrens and his wife own the Tobacco Source, about a mile away from the convenience store.
He also says he is getting a gun.
"I have a taser under the counter, but that's not much," said his wife, Karen Ahrens.
As of late Wednesday afternoon, Hillsborough County deputies had not made any arrests.
Burdett's Family Restaurant is in the same strip center as the Your Tobacco Source. Its owner is pretty shaken by how far the robbers took the hold-up.
"If they wanted the whole store, he would have given it to them. To be that violent, just to be that violent? I don't get it. I just don't get it," Christina Burdett said.
