Bowling to beat boredom

Bowling to beat boredom

NEW PORT RICHEY (FOX 13) -

Two kids, one long summer. Melissa Mazalewski knows this time of the year all too well.

"When we're home we have a good time," she said. "But it's good to get out because the kids get bored."

To avoid those dreaded words, "Mom I'm Bored," Mazalewski gets creative each summer with sons Cole and Chase.

"I try to find these different things around town to take them to," she said," and this has been a great one for them."

It's just one of her many summer fun ideas: bowling.

And this year it's free here at Langlo Bowling in New Port Richey.

Chris Langlo is the owner.

"It's been phenomenal," he said. "It's growing every week."

By registering on www.KidsBowlFree.com, kids can hit the lanes at no cost all summer long.

There are also great discounts for adults.

"We've had some tough times up here in Pasco County with unemployment," Chris said. "And we wanted to give something back to the community."

Mazalewski's taking advantage of the deal and said it's just one of many around town.

"I've taken them to the movies and there's the library," she said. "My kids love to read."

All fun and all for the entire family to enjoy.

"We try to do a lot together," she said, "because we don't get a whole lot of time together during the school year."

After all, the family that bowls together, well, doesn't get bored together.
