A presumed tuberculosis case involving an employee at MacDill Air Force Base was reported to county health officials.
Health officials believe it may have been exposed to as many as 50 others on the base. Those people are being tested this week.
"An investigation of the individual's household, place of work, and other close contacts is ongoing," said public health nurse Charman Benemon in a statement. "We are working closely with public health officials at MacDill to ensure the health and safety of all their employees and community members."
The infected person, who is recovering in isolation, no longer poses a health threat to others.
