TAMPA (FOX 13) -
Deputies have charged a 24-year-old man with first degree murder in
connection with Saturday's brutal killing at a Tampa apartment complex.
Candelario Herrera-Vazquez is accused of killing an unidentified 26-year-old
Hispanic male with a machete.
Deputies allege Herrera-Vazquez got involved in an altercation with the
victim, who is his roommate, around 2 a.m. Saturday. But it's unclear what led
to the argument.
Another roommate of the apartment found the body.
The sheriff's office says Herrera-Vazquez then traveled all the way down to Sarasota County to discard the machete.
He then purchased a ticket to go to Mexico
but was nabbed in Ocala,
detectives said.
