Winter Haven Police working crash involving pedestrian

A 46-year-old Polk County woman was seriously injured Friday night when she was hit by a vehicle along US Highway 92 in Winter Haven.

Teresa Gail Barnett was airlifted by helicopter to Lakeland Regional Medical Center.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:40 PM.

According to a Winter Haven Police Department report Barnett, for unknown reasons, stepped directly into the path of a vehicle traveling east.

Michael A. Tice, 49, stopped immediately and rendered aid to Barnett until paramedics arrived.

The investigation continues.
