A 21-year-old convicted felon released from state prison in December is in trouble with the law again.
David Dewayne Corey is being held at the Pinellas County Jail on one count of sexual battery. His bond is $20,000.
The alleged victim in the case is a 14-year-old girl.
According to a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office report the assault occurred on May 3rd, in the garage of an abandoned residence. Investigators say the juvenile reported the incident to a deputy in the area who began the initial investigation.
The suspect met the victim at a public park in Pinellas Park on the day of the alleged crime the report states.
Detectives with the Crimes against Children Unit did a follow-up investigation and were able to identify Corey as a suspect through a DNA match.
On Thursday he met with investigators was subsequently arrested and transported to the Pinellas County Jail. Corey is no stranger to law enforcement. He has been arrested on five previous occasions in Pinellas County since 2009.
He was released from state prison in December after serving nine months on a grand theft auto, resisting arrest conviction.
Corey has also been arrested for aggravated assault, carrying a concealed weapon, drug, burglary and fleeing to elude charges.
