You've probably heard of the Skinnygirl Margarita, but the 'skinny' market is now growing bigger.
"It's amazing how quickly these products have caught on," said Bill Stobbs, regional supervisor for ABC Fine Wine and Spirits.
That's why the line is expanding with wines, piña coladas, and even flavored vodkas.
"This is the trend right now is to go toward low-calorie alcoholic drinks."
One of the reasons is because the number of Americans dieting has doubled over the last decade to more than 50 percent. So eating less and counting calories often means killing the cocktails. However, Jordan Engelhardt says it doesn't have to be that way.
"I like to have a fruity cocktail every once in a while and it occurred to me that I was sacrificing my meal or my calories for a cocktail," she explained.
So she launched her line of skinny mixes, even before Bethenny Frankel's big product release. Her version of the margarita has just 100 calories, verses 600 in a traditional margarita.
The ladies at happy hour say it may be time to go "skinny."
"That would be a very good thing, see as I'm on a diet, yup," said Ellen Ienfest.
Skinny drinks are now becoming the must have item on menus at local bars and restaurants.
"The slogan that we typically use is your bikini always told you to drink responsibly and now you can," said Jordan.
And with that idea in mind, Jordan is also expanding her line with single-serve, ready-to-go frozen cocktails.
Jane Buzzanca, who was also at Courtside Grille during happy hour, said, "I actually like the idea of it being in your freezer and you can actually crack it out and have a drink on your porch. That would be awesome."
Whether it's skinny mixes, or skinny drinks, there's a huge market for everything low-calorie.
"Actually that, for the moment, temporarily has become a problem because our warehouse is out of stock at the moment, but it will be coming back in very, very quickly. But it just kinda shows how popular these products are," explained Bill.
