ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) -
Hundreds of people in St.
Petersburg traded the sun and sand for mud this weekend,
taking part in the sure-to-be-messy "Extreme Mud Wars."
The event, which drew about 600 people, was a hit at Spa Beach,
and it included mud games like football, tug of war and a fully involved
obstacle course.
"It's fun. It's amazing," said Gabrielle Tennian, one of the
many competitors who was covered in mud. "It's an adrenaline rush … got mud in
my teeth, in my eyes. I'm having a great time."
The competitors say it was all for fun, and by the looks of
it, it was mission accomplished.
About five thousand bags of sand and 80 tons of soil went in
to making a mud bowl.
