Detectives with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office have identified and arrested the driver of a car involved in the early morning murder of a Tampa man.
Jordan Lee McKenna was arrested at his home in Mulberry without incident Saturday afternoon. He is facing one count of accessory after the fact to second-degree murder with a firearm.
Investigators are still looking for the gunman in the fatal shooting of Pablo Bonilla. The 23-year-old man was gunned down in the parking lot of the Whiskey North Bar in the Carrollwood-Northdale area of Tampa.
According to a HCSO report deputies were dispatched to the establishment in the 11000 block of North Dale Mabry Highway just after 3 AM in response to a shots fired call.
When they arrived they found Bonilla and an unidentified female suffering form gunshot wounds. Bonilla was transported to a St. Joseph's Hospital where he later died.
The woman suffered non life-threatening injuries and was also transported to St. Joe's. She was treated and released.
Investigators say the deceased got into a verbal confrontation with McKenna while inside the bar. The argument stemmed from something the defendant said to the female, Bonilla's girlfriend.
After the bar closed Bonilla, his girlfriend and several other people were heading towards their vehicles when a blue Dodge Charger driven by McKenna pulled up to where the group was standing.
Witnesses say an unknown white male exited the vehicle and began firing from a handgun. Investigators say Bonilla and his girlfriend were both hit in the upper body.
The shooter jumped back into McKenna's vehicle and they fled the scene. Detectives on the scene obtained a description of the suspect vehicle and McKenna was positively identified as the driver.
The suspect was tracked to his residence and apprehended with assistance from the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
McKenna's vehicle was seized by investigators and the bedroom of his home searched by PCSO's Crime Scene Unit.
The suspect was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail where he is being held without bond pending his first appearance before a judge. Authorities are still searching for the shooter.
