Deputies in Sarasota County arrested two women Friday night following an armed robbery in the 1700 block of Stickney Point Rd.
They are still looking for a third suspect, described by the victim as a young black male.
Chastity Edwards, 19, and Lea Canty, 18, were booked into the Sarasota County Jail on one count of conspiring to commit a felony.
Edwards was released Saturday afternoon after posting a bond of $5,000. Canty is still being held on a bond of $5,000. The suspects are scheduled to be arraigned on August 10th.
According to a Sarasota County Sheriff's Office report deputies were dispatched to the crime scene in response to a robbery call. John Eilerman told investigators a black male approached him just after 11 PM, pointed a handgun at him and demanded his cash and possessions.
The suspect had a bandana over his face and was wearing a black sweatshirt over a white t-shirt. He fled the scene in a soft top, red convertible Mustang.
A short time later the vehicle was observed and stopped in the 1800 block of Grove St. Inside was Canty, Edwards and the black male, who fled on foot immediately after the deputies stopped the car.
A search of the surrounding area was conducted but the male suspect managed to escape.
If you have any information about this incident or the location of the male suspect please contact the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office at 941-861-4900.
The investigation continues and additional charges against the female suspects may be filed.
