
Concepcion, 43, is scheduled to be arrainged on August 10th.A 43-year-old Sarasota man is facing a variety of charges following a short pursuit early Saturday morning.
Joel Concepcion was booked into the Sarasota County Jail where he is being held on a bond of $11,500.
According to a Sarasota County Sheriff's Office report deputies observed a black Mercedes stopped in the intersection of 17th St. and Tuttle Ave. just after 3 AM.
One of the deputies reported hearing the screams of a woman emitting from the vehicle. When they attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the driver attempted to speed away.
The suspect, later identified as Concepcion, stopped the car and jumped out but was quickly apprehended, but not before he was tasered.
The woman, identified in the report as Gabrielle Judd, told investigators that she initially got into the suspect's vehicle voluntarily but when she told him she wanted to get out he would not let her.
The victim told investigators that Concepcion physically restrained her against her will. Judd was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries and released.
Concepcion is facing one count of kidnapping, one count of battery, one count of felony fleeing to elude and one count of resisting an officer. He is also facing additional charges for being a habitual traffic offender.
A search of the Sarasota County Clerk of the Courts database shows has been charged with operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver's license on seven occasions since 2005.
