BRADENTON (FOX 13) -

Investigators in Manatee County are searching for the driver of a pick-up truck who fled a head-on crash Friday night.

The driver of the second vehicle, 37-year-old Demmerick Richardson of Bradenton, was not hurt.

His 2009 Chevrolet Aveo suffered $2,000 in damages.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report the driver of a 1998 green Chevy pick-up truck triggered the incident by running a red light at the intersection of Cortez Rd. West and 75th St. West.

The incident occurred just before 11:30 PM.

After running the light the truck swerved to avoid one vehicle before striking Richardson's Aveo. The suspect vehicle then fled south on 75th before heading east on 53rd Ave. West where it hit an entry wall to the Glenn Lakes subdivision.

Witnesses say a middle-aged white male was seen exiting the vehicle. The man fled on foot into Glenn Lakes. Investigators say the truck's airbags deployed and may have caused injury to the suspect.

If you have any information about this crash or the location of the pick-up truck's driver, please contact Trooper Kiner or Trooper Fitzpatrick with the Florida Highway Patrol at 239-938-1800.
