Danford, 29, suffered a puncture wound to the chest according to a St. Petersburg Police Department report.ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) -
A 29-year-old Pinellas County man was seriously injured Friday night following a domestic disturbance in St. Petersburg.
Jeriel Danford was transported to Bayfront Medical Center with a stab wound to the chest.
He is currently listed in critical but stable condition at the facility's intensive care unit.
According to a St. Petersburg Police Department report Danford and a female known to him got into an altercation at approximately 10:20 PM Friday night. The incident occurred in the front yard of a home in the 1500 block of 25th Ave. South.
Investigators say Danford struck the unidentified woman several times after the two exchanged words. The woman fled the scene and later returned with several of her family members.
A large scuffle ensued and Danford was stabbed by an unknown assailant. SPD detectives were dispatched to the scene to interview witnesses and gather evidence.
No suspect has been identified at this time as the investigation continues.
Danford is well known to law enforcement in the area. He's been arrested several times in the past few years on a variety of charges including disorderly conduct, drug possession and domestic battery.
