A woman survived after falling 174 feet off the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in St. Petersburg.
Investigators say Debra Roche pulled her car over near the highest point on the bridge and sat on the edge, then apparently jumped into the water.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers spotted the woman in the water trying to swim and hung a flare from the side of the bridge to guide a rescue boat to the woman.
Officials say a fisherman and his friend saw the woman in the water. He got the woman into the boat and called 911.
Fire Rescue Captain Tim White says the fisherman saved the woman's life.
Roche is in stable condition at Bayfront Medical Center.
