A St. Petersburg man was badly injured after firefighters found him inside a hours fire Monday morning.
The man has not been identified, but fire officials said he was rushed to the hospital with bad burn injuries and smoke inhalation.
Investigators are still trying to work out all the details, but they said the blaze likely broke out on the top floor of the two-story home. The location is 2250 2nd Avenue North, and it started around 1 a.m.
The home has six bedrooms that are rented out. There were eight people inside at the time of the fire, officials said.
"People were just scattering everywhere when we got here," Lt. Joel Granata said.
Granata said firefighters were still searching the home Monday to figure out how the fire started.
