LARGO (FOX 13) -

A 17-year-old Largo teen who was critically injured Friday night after suffering a gunshot wound to the head was playing a game of ‘Russian Roulette' with three friends when the tragic incident occurred.

Thorin R. Montgomery was airlifted by helicopter to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg just after 8 PM.

He suffered a life threatening injury and is listed in critical condition.

According to a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office report Montgomery and three unidentified teenage boys engaged in the deadly game at a residence in the 110000 block of 111th Way North in Largo.

Deputies were dispatched to the scene in response to a shots fired call. Investigators say the injured teen and three of his friends – ages 19, 18 and 16 – were playing with the gun on the back porch of the home.

A witness told detectives the four boys were passing around a .38-caliber revolver when Montgomery pointed the weapon at his head and pulled the trigger. The gun discharged striking the teen.

No other injuries were reported and no charges have been filed as the investigation continues.
