Flooding, evacuations in Hillsborough

Posted: Updated:
TAMPA (FOX 13) -

Flooding was a major issue in Hillsborough County, where heavy rain from Tropical Storm Debby continued to fall Monday.

Bayshore Boulevard was flooded in some parts, looking more like a river than a roadway.

Police had it blocked off from Bay to Bay up to Platt Street, with some drivers stuck in the middle of the mess and others trying their luck to cross the stretch.

The northbound portion of the road was flooded worse than southbound, and some drivers even tried going the wrong way to cross it.

A river flood warning remains in effect for the Little Manatee River at Wimauma, the Alafia River at Lithia and the Hillsborough River near Zephyrhills.
