LAKELAND (FOX 13) -
Deputies say a 33-year-old woman suffered multiple fractures after her husband struck her in
the head with a hammer.
According to the
sheriff's office, Dawn Young told deputies she woke up covered in blood with
her husband, Christopher, standing over her.
Young, who was arrested
this week by Lakeland
police, admitted to striking her with a hammer. He now faces attempted murder
charges.
Deputies also say
that after Dawn Young woke up, Christopher Young stole her cell phone so she couldn't call for help.
She drove herself to South Florida
Baptist Hospital
in Plant City and was transferred to St. Joseph's, where she's
being treated.
Christopher Young, 44, was booked in the Polk County Jail.
