You may remember 1979 as the year the USSR invaded Afghanistan, or the famous nuclear accident at Three Mile Island in Pennsylvania.
But do you remember the 1979 Tampa Bay Rays?
We don't either.
But on June 30 against the Detroit Tigers the Rays will wear their 1979 uniforms for "Turn Back the Clock" night.
Of course, the Rays weren't around in 1979.
In past throwback nights, the team has worn the uniforms of old Tampa Bay area clubs, but this year it decided to create a hypothetical 1979 jersey.
And did you know: In 1979 manager Joe Maddon, who is pictured above in the new threads, was finishing his minor league playing career in California.
Interestingly enough the Rays have opted not to use "Devil Rays" as its name, just "Rays."
Do you like the look? Should they have used Devil Rays? Tell us on Facebook.
