Longoria suffers setback in rehab assignment

Posted: Updated:
ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) -

Evan Longoria is back with the Rays in Washington, but he's not close to getting back on the field.  He is trying to come back from a torn hamstring and hasn't been on the field in a game since May 3.  Now he's still out indefinitely.

Longoria was in Durham, rehabbing in Triple A, when he felt a slight tweak in his hamstring, so he pulled himself out of the lineup.

The Rays then brought him back to the big league club and he will continue to work and rehab under the direct supervision of trainer Ron Porterfield.

The good news is, the Rays haven't shut Longoria down, he will continue the therapy, continue to work on getting back in the line up.  Now he will just do it with his teammates and not in Durham.
