Aaron Doty remembered as a wonderful young man

SEBRING (FOX 13) -

The day of celebration of Aaron Doty's life started with a heartfelt goodbye at his funeral.

"Aaron has brothers and sisters that will love him forever and a family that will never forget him," said Brenda Doty, Aaron's mom.

It ended with an emotional candlelight vigil at Fireman's Field in Sebring.

"I got my candle, I'm ready to support Aaron and his family," said friend Scott Barnes.

Investigators say Doty was killed at a Sebring house party in the early morning hours of June 10.

His body was found days later.

Police say the men responsible for his death allegedly tried to burn the body to eliminate evidence.

That was far from the mind of Doty's friends and family Saturday.

"Everybody loved him, he got along with everybody," said Barnes.

At his funeral loved ones recalled his endearing qualities.

"I'll never forget, I can still see that smile because it can light up a room," said friend Dewey Sebring.

"He loved his friends just as much as he loved his family and he wanted to show that to everyone," said Katie Summers, Aaron's cousin.

Loved ones also talked about his faults.

"He was a knucklehead, he was a mess but you know what he loved everybody," said Chris Doty, Aaron's uncle.

But above all they remembered a young man who they say will be impossible to forget.

And if Doty loved everyone, nearly 1500 of those loved ones showed up for his candlelight vigil.

Candles burned, tears were shed and memories flowed for a young man people say was taken far too soon.
