Sparkling like a jewel in the sun, a 2012 Scion xD had some 200 seniors shaking in their shoes. By afternoon's end one of them would be driving away in a sweet new ride.
"I'm really exciting I really want this car," said Andrea Brim, a Riverview senior.
For the second year in a row, Toyota of Tampa Bay hosted the "perfect car for perfect attendance" give-a-way. Hillsborough County seniors who didn't miss school in their first and or second semesters were eligible.
"To give back to the community we thought nothing better than to partner with hillsborough county school board," said GM john Gliem.
Anticipation was in the air, as names were drawn and students picked a key out of this bowl hoping it unlocked the door. One by one they tried, but no luck.
Then the 7th key was drawn, and Brenna Mcphee of Armwood High School won herself a brand new car!
"I couldn't believe it I really didn't think I was going to win," she said.
"I was blown away," her dad Richard said.
Her new wheels will certainly come in handy as she heads to Florida Gulf Coast University next year to study biology. She says this contest was a great incentive to work hard and never miss class.
"It definitely helped me to come school there's a bunch of days I wouldn't have come if I wasn't in this," she said.
She had plenty of luck on her side, it may have been birthday luck, she turns 18 on Tuesday the 19th.
