Florida State Senator Jim Norman asked election officials to remove his name from the ballot on Tuesday. The Tampa Republican withdrew five days after qualifying for re-election.
Norman did not immediately return a call seeking comment. He gave no explanation in a letter to the state.
Norman earlier signed a stipulation with the Florida Ethics Commission acknowledging he failed to timely disclosure a $500,000 gift his wife received. He also admitted failing to disclose his interest in a home and two boats she bought with the money. The Senate has not yet acted on the complaint.
Rep. John Legg, former Rep. Rob Wallace and security consultant John Korsak remain in the GOP primary race. The winner will face Democrat Wes Johnson.
