LAKELAND (FOX 13) -

A 30-year-old Polk County teacher's aide being sought on sex charges turned himself into authorities late Saturday night.

Curtis Leonard Jiles is being held at the Polk County Jail on a bond of $239,000.

He was booked into the facility early Sunday morning on a variety of charges including sexual battery by a person in custodial authority.

Jiles, a Lakeland resident, made his first appearance before a judge in Bartow Sunday morning.

Investigators say the suspect took advantage of students at Tenoroc High School in Lakeland. According to his arrest affidavit Jiles performed sex acts on the alleged victims on the campus of the school and in his car.

The school's website lists Jiles as a paraprofessional educator in Tenoroc's exceptional student's education department.

Polk County Sheriffs Grady Judd says Jiles was supposed to turn himself in on Friday but failed to show up to SO headquarters with his attorney.

Judd is just glad he's off the streets.

"He's a nasty, nasty guy and we need to get him away from kids," Judd said in a statement to the media on Saturday.

Detectives are still working the case and additional charges may be filed. They believe there may be other victims out there so if you have any information about the suspect, please contact the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
