An ‘extremely loud' car stereo complaint ignited a chase and gunfire early Sunday morning in Bradenton.
Lawrence Bernard Isom Jr. is facing a variety of charges including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
He is being held without bond at the Manatee County Jail.
According to a Manatee County Sheriff's Office report a deputy was dispatched to the 1200 block of 51st Ave. Dr. West in response to a noise complaint call.
When the deputy arrived on the scene just before 3 AM he discovered a vehicle parked in the roadway with its stereo blasting away at a high level.
The deputy attempted to talk to the driver – Isom Jr. – but he hit the gas and took off. The deputy had to jump out of the way quickly to avoid being hit by the suspect's vehicle.
Several minutes later, Isom, 23, was spotted and a chase ensued. It ended when he turned down a dead-end street and attempted to turn around.
He struck a MCSO K-9 vehicle and another patrol vehicle as he attempted to escape from the 2300 block of 12th St. Court West.
The deputy that was exiting the damaged patrol vehicle fired several shots at Isom's vehicle as it drove towards him.
The suspect was not hit and was eventually taken into custody. The vehicle, a Ford Mustang, was struck by several bullets.
The shooting will be reviewed by MCSO investigators.
Isom Jr. is no stranger to law enforcement. He's served three stints in the state prison system for drugs and weapons convictions out of Manatee County.
