BRANDON (FOX 13) -

A tip from a Brandon hotel employee helped deputies arrest and charge two men with identity theft and credit card fraud.

The employee found a plastic bag containing hundreds of driver's licenses, credit cards, social security cards and passports in the names of 38 different people, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

The suspects, Gefery Pierre and Branden Jones, were staying at the Brandon Motor Lodge at 906 Brandon Boulevard East.

The employee contacted authorities, and deputies discovered Jones and Pierre were also using a vehicle that had been stolen from a rental car company at Tampa International Airport.

Deputies also said several of the licenses had been reported stolen, and some of the credit cards had been used for fraudulent transactions.

The investigation continues Thursday.
