A 34-year-old man was arrested and charged with starting Tuesday night's fire at the Thai Market and Kitchen on Dale Mabry Highway.
And according to police, the man, James Nettles, is the owner's stepson.
It's unclear what led him to start the fire, which blanketed south Tampa with smoke, but investigators said he admitted to it.
Nettles was found with cash and a DVR from the security system, investigators said. Someone spotted him leaving the building with a backpack.
The building was destroyed, but no one was injured.
Nettles is charged with arson, burglary and resisting arrest without violence.
