Teens pull gun on students at bus stop, police say

TAMPA (FOX 13) -

Police say a truck full of teens pulled up to a bus stop in Tampa and threatened three students with a gun Wednesday morning.

It happened around 6:50 a.m. near the corner of 42nd Street and Palifox Street.

The kids, students at Armwood High School, were standing at the bus stop when a black F-250 pulled up with four teens inside, police said.

One of them pulled out a gun and showed it to the kids, but no one was injured.

After they left the area, officers tracked down the suspects and tried to stop them at 40th and Louisiana.

"An officer spotted the truck matching the description, and as soon as they saw the police car – the marked unit – they took off," said Tampa police spokeswoman Andrea Davis.

But the truck flipped on its side, Davis said. That's when the suspects got out and fled. Three were taken into custody and a fourth was found later thanks to a 911 call, police said.

The suspects have been identified by police. They are 18-year-old Akanfi Pratt, 19-year-old Mike Rivera and 19-year-old and Chris Thomas. FOX 13 is not naming the other suspect because he is a minor.

According to police, one of the victims knew one of the suspects.

Three schools nearby -- James Elementary, Williams Middle and Gary Adult -- were placed on modified lockdown for about 40 minutes.

They've been given the all clear.
