Manatee County has scrapped plans for red light cameras. Three cameras were installed in the county more than a year ago, but they haven't issued a single ticket yet.
That's because state lawmakers changed the rules regarding how much money a municipality can make from the tickets.
The county attorney says the cameras don't make sense financially under the new rules.
So today, commissioners voted unanimously to scrap the program. The county may have to pay more than $600,000 dollars for breaching its contract with the camera company.
