The Florida Highway Patrol says it believes one of its officers acted “within the scope of his duties” during a stun gun incident that left a Pinellas County woman in a coma.
According to FHP officials, the incident happened Sept. 19, 2011, outside the FHP Pinellas Park Substation.
FOX 13 has obtained video from the Florida Highway Patrol, which also released this statement about it.
"The Florida Department of Law Enforcement conducted an independent review. FDLE's investigation found the trooper's actions were legal and within the scope of his duties."
In the video, you can see a handcuffed Danielle Maudsley, 20, run from Officer Daniel Cole, who uses a Taser on her. Maudsley hit her head in the incident, seriously injuring her.
