DeKalb Prosecutors to Handle Dunwoody Shooting Probe

DeKalb County prosecutors are taking over the investigation into a Georgia man who was shot and killed outside a suburban preschool minutes after he dropped off his 2-year-old son.

DeKalb County District Attorney Robert James said Thursday police are turning the case of Russell Sneiderman’s death over to prosecutors. He said it’s a typical process, and that Dunwoody authorities are still involved in the investigation.

James said “we take all murders seriously. And we’re going to do our best to investigate this case in such a way that justice is brought about.”

Police in Dunwoody arrested 48-year-old Hemy Zvi Neuman Tuesday in connection with the shooting death of Rusty Sneiderman outside Dunwoody Prep School last November. His young son attends the preschool, and he had just dropped the 2-year-old boy off when the shooting happened.

At a court appearance Wednesday afternoon, Neuman was denied bond and asked for a public defender.

Neuman, a resident of Buckhead, is facing charges of felony murder.  He is currently being at the DeKalb County Jail.
