Randy Travis joined FOX 5 Atlanta in 1990 as a reporter. In 1994 he became an investigative reporter for the FOX 5 I-Team. Since then, his stories have closed down businesses that misled the public, exposed government waste and corruption and sent people to prison.
Before joining FOX 5, Randy was a reporter for WMC-TV in Memphis, Tenn., WYFF-TV in Greenville, SC and WMAZ-TV in Macon, Ga. He also worked as a newspaper sportswriter in his hometown of Athens, Ga. in the early 1980s.
As part of the FOX5 I-Team, Randy focuses on consumer rip-offs, criminal wrongdoing and government mismanagement.
Randy has won several regional Emmy awards for his investigative work. Twice he has been honored with the national Edward R. Murrow Award. One of those stories exposed the illicit sale of crack cocaine supplies in metro convenience stores. The other revealed a collection of audio-taped dispatches from prison employees as they watched Georgia death penalty electrocutions. A few months after the series aired, the Georgia Supreme Court ruled the state's electric chair unconstitutional. Randy is proud of any story that brings a positive change in the community.
Randy is an avid road runner and has competed in every Peachtree Road Race since 1993. He is also a big Braves fan and is active with his children and their interests. Randy is a 1982 graduate of the University of Georgia. He lives with his family in metro Atlanta.
