After taking time to expand her journalism career, Gurvir Dhindsa has returned to FOX 5 to renew her role as co-anchor of Good Day Atlanta!

 An award-winning journalist, Gurvir first came to FOX 5 Atlanta in 1997. During that time, she was nominated for two Emmy awards for her part in the station's coverage of Atlanta tornadoes and a school shooting in Conyers, Ga.

Most recently, Gurvir served as news anchor for seven years at the Washington, D.C. FOX affiliate, WTTG-TV. Prior to that, she was an anchor at WUSA-TV 9 News (CBS) in Washington, D.C.

Earlier in her career, she was a 6 & 10 pm. anchor and reporter for WLOX-TV in Biloxi, Miss. where she won numerous Associated Press awards for her reporting and anchoring, including several best documentary awards for her reporting on "Mississippi Profiles: Faces of Success," an hour-long program which profiled outstanding Mississippi people or businesses.

Gurvir also received several first place achievement awards for hosting "Viewpoint", a public affairs program, on issues ranging from school prayer to crime to racism.

Gurvir began her career as a production assistant at WTVF-TV in her hometown of Nashville, Tenn. and spent three years as a reporter and morning anchor at WAPT-TV in Jackson, Miss.
