Persian Calm and affectionate, these cats get along well with children and dogs. They are also known as lap cats and will provide your child with plenty of company.

Maine Coon These big, bushy-tailed cats are naturally sociable and tend to adore children. They are extremely frisky and fun, but need to be brushed often.
American Shorthair These fun-loving kitties do well in homes with space to run around. They are happy and friendly, and they can live into their 20s, making them a perfect long-time companion for young kids.
While these breeds are known to be kid-friendly, it's also a good idea to check your local cat shelter for your new furry family member. Many times you can find pure breeds or mixes that have all of the great traits you're looking for!
