Thursdays haven't been the same without seeing Doug Hemmer out
on the water. For eight months he hasn't worked because of a severe
back injury. Now, in the tight world of charter captains, his
friends and fellow captains are stepping up, holding a special

At this time of year, tarpon are in the Bay, but the westerly
winds that we've had for months are keeping everyone fishing for
tarpon off the beach. Those west winds bring them back to a Tampa
Bay landmark for tarpon fishing.
