(NewsCore) - Tiger Woods had another rough day at the BMW Championship Friday, finishing up the second round tied for 45th place, and Matt Kuchar took a step backward after a brilliant start.
Woods failed to break par for a second consecutive day, posting a one-over 72. He would need to finish at about fifth place to qualify for the Tour Championship, the finale of the U.S. PGA Tour's FedEx Cup playoff.
Only the top 30 players in FedEx Cup standings will qualify.
Woods is the defending champion and a five-time winner at Cog Hill, a public course in suburban Chicago.
South Korean Charlie Wi was the current leader as of 5:00pm ET, finishing his second round with a two-under 69 that left him six-under overall over two days.
Meanwhile, Kuchar, who finished Thursday's first round in first place after a masterful seven-under 64 got off to a rough start Friday. He was three over par with five holes left to play.
