MIAMI - Tropical Storm Ida has formed in the southwestern Caribbean, prompting storm warnings for the coast of Nicaragua and two Colombian islands.
At 4 p.m., the center of Tropical Storm Ida was located about 75 miles west-southwest of San Andres Island, and had wind speeds of up to 60 miles per hour.
The National Hurricane Center in Miami changed its status from depression to storm after sending a hurricane plane to examine the storm Wednesday afternoon.
