SHELTER LOCATIONS
Hernando County has a number of emergency shelters, but they may not all be open during any given storm.  Study them ahead of time, but listen to FOX 13 during a storm to find which shelters are open.

SPECIAL NEEDS SHELTERS & REGISTRATION
The county's special needs shelter, for the elderly and otherwise challenged, is located at the Challenger K-8 School in Spring Hill.  Note that this is new for 2007.  Registration for the special needs program can be done through your home health care or oxygen provider, Private care providers, physicians' offices, or by contacting the Emergency Management Office at 754-4083. Once you are registered, you or your healthcare representative should renew your application every year.
