TAMPA - Who would have thought the creamsicle look would be back?

Mike Jones is a Bucs season ticket holder and bought a throwback Bucs jersey Friday.

"I'm excited about it. All the other teams have done it, this is our first time," he said.

The winless Bucs will be going retro, wearing their throwback jerseys at Sunday's game. And it appears the fans don't want to feel left out.

"It's coming from all over the country. People are calling and wanting to overnight throwback merchandise," said Richard Kelly, manager at Buccaneer Heaven in Tampa.

Kelly said orange is the color to have this weekend, and fans are definitely buying it.

"People want to wear jerseys from Ricky Bell, Lee Roy Selmon and Doug Williams," he added. "Those are the stars from yesteryear."

Some fans are getting confident that the orange look may be just the luck this team needs.

"I think they are going to pull it off this Sunday, get our first win," Jones said.

The jerseys are the most popular, but there are also hats and polo shirts. Many long time fans say they may have given away their orange gear years ago, but they won't make the same mistake twice.

"I used to have a hat and t-shirts and even some of the division championship stuff," Jones said.

Raymond James Stadium is also dressing the part, with creamsicle and white taking over the field.

"It's like a nostalgic thing. Before everyone couldn't wait to get rid of this stuff, but now I think everyone is excited about pulling this stuff back out of their closets," Jones said.

And if the Bucs beat the Packers while wearing the old gear, it may become a favorite among fans.

"Oh yeah, oh yeah it will become popular," Kelly said.

So maybe next year we can figure out a way to make RayJay look more like the old Sombrero – or maybe not.

You can watch the Bucs game on FOX 13 Sunday at 1 p.m.
