TAMPA - A high school soccer star from the Bay Area is working hard to fulfill her dreams.
What Bryane Heaberlin can do between the sticks is considered by many as a special gift. Named to All-American Soccer Team last year, she's one of the top female athletes coming out of high school in the nation.
But even with all of the praise Heaberlin has received, she’s stayed humble about her experiences.
"Pretty much, everywhere I've played people have helped my throughout the way," said Heaberlin.
Heaberlin eats and sleeps soccer. The stand out goalkeeper led Berkeley Preparatory School to the state championship game last year. And this month she's leading the U.S. Under 17 Women's National Team in Costa Rica.
She is one of dozens of girls from around the country fighting for the World Cup this week.
"It's been my dream forever to be on the National Team. I'm just so honored to be able to wear the crest and represent my country," said Heaberlin.
Wednesday they beat Haiti 9 to 0 during the World Cup Qualification. Their next opponent is Cayman Islands on Friday and then Costa Rica on Sunday.
Heaberlin says she's confident the U.S. will be well represented in the tournament.
