LAKELAND - The song says, "the sun will come out tomorrow," but for a homeless Lakeland pup it came out a few months ago. That's when it's luck changed in a big way.
It went from the SPCA of Polk County onto the stage.
Sandy, a cute little tan fuzzball, was found abandoned in a foreclosed home, is now co-starring in Lakeland Community Theatre's new production of "Annie."
It opens the first week of March.
The director, Debbie Morgan, knew she needed a dog to play Sandy. At first, she intended to foster one from the SPCA, then place it in a permanent home.
But things changed.
"That face," Morgan said with a big smile. Morgan decided to out her in the show, then keep her.
The show, and Sandy's tale both have happy endings.
