Football star on trial for murder

BRADENTON - Jury selection is expected to begin today for a former Manatee County football star accused of murder.

Timothy Brooks, 19, is accused of killing William White.

Prosecutors say Brooks stole a necklace from White and then shot him when he tried to drive away.

Lawyers for Brooks are expected to argue that witnesses identified the wrong person.

Brooks was the starting quarterback for Lakewood Ranch High.

Another person, Cody Rogers, is also charged in the murder. His trial is expected to take place next February.
