SARASOTA - Deputies with the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office say a 21-year-old man is dead after a shooting, and they are looking for a suspect they say is armed and dangerous.
It happened around 6:45 p.m. Monday outside a home in the 2500 block of 24th Street.
Investigators say they found Clyde Newell, 21, with a gunshot wound when they first got on scene. He was transported to Bayfront Medical Center, but later died from his injuries.
Detectives are now searching for the person responsible. They believe Turrell Lamar Allen, 27, shot Newell, and they are trying to track him down for further questioning.
Witnesses told investigators they saw Allen shoot the victim after the two got into an argument. Allen was last seen running from the crime scene.
Officers say Allen should be considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, call police immediately.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office at (941) 861-4900 or Crime Stoppers at (941) 366-TIPS.
